I’m working on a bachelors in viola performance from the New England Conservatory, but I have no idea what a music technology degree entails, however it sounds interesting for graduate study because I’m interested in technology as well as music…any information would be appreciated, I’m trying to research it…thanks!

danny g asked:

The action on my acoustic guitar is very high, resulting in it being awkward to play.
What would be the rough price of getting the action lowered?
Also, It is just a beginner guitar i got from ebay so didn’t cost much, so would it be worth getting it repaired or just upgrading?

Thanks

Aurelia asked:

I am 18 years old and a soprano. I have been studying music for 9 years and seriously studying voice for about 2 years. I plan to go to college and either major in musical theater or minor in voice. Does anyone have any recomendations for music books to add to my library to build my repitoire? I have several, but I’m interested to see what people who have studied voice in college and beyond recomend. I have a range that spans over three octaves, so there is no limit in that aspect.

Jan asked:

I want to learn to play soprano sax but all my music books are for alto or don’t say which sax they are for. Will they work when I am playing alone or do I need music written for tenor? I am not knowledgable enough to transpose.

LAW asked:

I love to sing and play music. I can’t find anyone to get into a band with. All my friends are either in bands or talentless. So would it be a good idea to record the music and sing live with taped music. Would this be a good idea and is it common? Does it depend on the music?

What I am looking for is a textbook to learn music theory but doesn’t assume you don’t know how to read music. I can read music but just want more information about chord structures and more advanced items than learning how to read music. Any ideas of a good textbook?

I wanna be a professional musician when i grow up. I want to go to music school. What are the “ivy league” schools of music? in other words, wat are those few schools that are the best for music or the arts?

however, i dont just want to learn how to perform music, i want to learn about the business of it too, like producing, copyrighting, selling cds, running a studio, etc… what are the best schools for that?

and are there music schools that teach both performing arts and the business of music? if so, wat are the best schools for that?
