hmm,not sure about this, most skins i knew liked a fight with anyone including other skins,so they didnt do themselves much good, although they was always crossover, plenty of skins were racist[ the notorious brick lane skins],as for soulies,it was about dancing to rare music, speed etc and top quality birds, only the best would do ,and it didnt disappoint

@mohair8he – Not really, Britain in the 70s didn’t have a huge “Afro-Carribean” community. Though we did have a few who attended. If you ever see any Casino vids with a Black guy doing amazing spins (usually shown in slo-mo) he was Vernard from Bradford in Yorkshire. Don’t forget Britain has just had (1997- prsent) Multiculturalism forced upon it’s people, and not for the best either.

@michael1882yt – You couldn’t really, as it was about the people, the atmosphere and the building itself. But people are or have been making or trying to make a film on Wigan Casino and Northern Soul.

I love it how all these Experts talking about Northern Soul don’t have a bloody clue, as they were never into Northern Soul. it was a “White Northenr Working Class” youth culture, yes we did have Coloured lads who went to the Casino etc but they were few and far between though they were warmly welcomed.

@artfemus Northern soul is probably bigger today than it was when I was going to the Casino, which then moved to Wigan Tiffanys, then Central Pier Morecambe, Top of the World staffs, etc.
It’s just a pity my knees have worn out and my dancing days are over. =/

I was born 1959, grew up in the late 60s and seventies, and loved the two tone stay press Brogues Loafers, Fred perry shirts, bracers harrington jackets, I felt so cool and smart, loved every minute of those days, the youngsters today look like a bunch a fucking faggots!

I really miss these times, I started off as a 70s soulboy and to this day I still am, their is nothing now to compare to the dress style music of back then, we have young people dressed up in hoodies who think they invented that stupid look, their is no fashion sense no real music no proper dancers now, we have done it all before them and they think listening to watered down r and b youngsters today havent a clue we were far cooler and smarter then this boring Ipod generation enuff said….
